James Elwyn NeSmith, 84, of Snellville, Georgia, passed away on November 18, 2020 at his home under the care of hospice.
Mr. NeSmith was born on May 5, 1936 to David Truant NeSmith and Eletha Dasher NeSmith in Claxton, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1959 with a degree in forestry, but worked in the restaurant industry for many years even owning his own restaurant before managing a convenience store and retiring as a bus driver from Gwinnett County. In addition to his parents, Mr. NeSmith was preceded in death by his brothers, DeVoy NeSmith, Burnis NeSmith, Winton (Evelyn) NeSmith, David (Imogene) NeSmith, and Thomas NeSmith. He was also preceded in death by his son Randall Allen NeSmith.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Lynette Calloway NeSmith of Snellville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Lajuan NeSmith of Norfolk, Virginia; his sons, Richard NeSmith of Gainesville, Georgia, Robert NeSmith (Laura) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Ronald NeSmith (Jill) of Dawsonville, Georgia; his grandchildren, DeLacey McDonald, Luke NeSmith, and Brandy Taveras of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kaleigh NeSmith of Euharlee, Georgia and Shane NeSmith of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
The graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Tommy McGee officiating.
