James Calvin "Cal" Rivenbark, 86, joined Eleanor Miller Rivenbark "MaJo", deceased wife and mother of their five sons and one daughter on September 7, 2013. He was a faithful Methodist and loving family man. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a 1949 graduate of Georgia Tech and was a Chemical Engineer. Cal was an Ancient Free and Accepted Mason for 56 years and an avid vegetable and fruit gardener. He retired as Administrator from Candler County Hospital in Metter. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Pigford L. and Sallie McGauley Rivenbark; a brother, William Lanier Rivenbark and two sons, William Paul and Noel Armstrong Carpenter.
Survivors are four sons and their wives, Michael D. Rivenbark and Rita of Key West, FL, Wayne C. Rivenbark and Peggy of Metter, Clifford A. Rivenbark and Bonnie of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter and her husband, Mary Ann Scott and Bill of Metter; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary R. Wheeler and Dale of Houston, TX; two daughters-in-law, Terry Carpenter and Cathy Rivenbark; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A bon-voyage Celebration of Life with family, friends and neighbors will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Metter United Methodist Church social hall. Casual attire please. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Metter United Methodist Church, POB 595, Metter, GA 30439.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
