Jade Ansley Braddy

Jade Ansley Braddy, 17, of Metter, died Friday evening, May 13, 2016 in Statesboro. She was born in Statesboro and lived the last several years in the Excelsior Community near Metter.

Jade was a member of Grace Community Church where she volunteered in the church nursery and was involved with the youth program and summer camp.  She was a junior at Metter High School and held accolades such as honor roll, FBLA and FCCLA awards as well as other leadership achievements.  In 2016, Jade was one of only two students chosen for the Foundation of Rural Services Washington Youth Tour which provided a forum for teens to meet and interact with their peers from other rural communities as well as government and legislative figures.  She was a Metter Tiger Diamond Girl and active in many of the clubs and organization of Metter High School.

Surviving are her parents, Jimmy and Polly Smith Braddy of Metter and Brandie Akridge Braddy of Stillmore ; a brother, Jonathan “Nat Henry” Braddy of  Metter; a sister, Brittany Lane Pulliam of Palmetto;  paternal grandparents, Jimmy D. and Dawn Braddy of Oak Park; maternal grandparents, Jonathan and Paulette Smith of Metter and Lewis and JoAnne Akridge of Stillmore; paternal great-grandmothers, Mary Catherine Braddy of Swainsboro and Lynette Warren of Oak Park;  maternal great-grandmother, Kay Draughn of Metter; two uncles, Rusty Braddy of Oak Park and Will Smith of Metter; and an aunt, Lynn Sapp, and her husband, Jason of Portal.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 6 o’clock at the Metter Middle School Gymnasium with the funeral service to follow at 6 o’clock.  Interment will be in Excelsior Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the 2015-16 Metter High School Baseball Team and the Diamond  Girls.
