Hilda Mae Cook Johnson, of Aline, widow of Manning Leggette Johnson, passed away early Monday morning, January 6, 2025, at her residence in Aline.

Hilda was born in Horry County, South Carolina, to Johnnie Robert Cook and Mabeth Jones Cook. She moved to Candler County in 1989, where she and her husband built a home in the Aline Community. A retired bank teller and loan officer, Hilda was a hardworking and dedicated individual. She enjoyed playing and singing guitar and loved fishing.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Dale Johnson of Aline; her sister, Glenda Cook Sutton (James) of Stillmore; two brothers, Kenneth Lester Cook (Barbara) of Georgetown, South Carolina, and Thomas Travis Small of Georgetown, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter, Georgia.

A graveside service will take place at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Garden of Devotion Cemetery in Hemingway, South Carolina.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter, is in charge of the arrangements.
