Herschel Van Buren Thompson, IV, “Little Van” of Vidalia, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.
Little Van was born in Savannah on November 5, 1972, and grew up in Ailey, Georgia before moving to Vidalia several years ago. He graduated from Montgomery High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Little Van was a member of College Hill Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. He was passionate about fishing and hunting, but more than that, his children.
Surviving are his Parents, Karen Thompson Chapman and Biram Chapman of Vidalia; his wife, Lesley Thompson of Vidalia; his biological father, Herschel Van Buren Thompson, III “Big Van” (Nina) of Mount Vernon; two sons, Chason Van “Chase” Thompson and Herschel Van Lynnden “Chelden” Thompson both of Vidalia; a daughter, Timber Thompson of Long Pond; his sister, Lauren Thompson Collins (Jason Hadden); his half-sister, Terri Williford (Tim); his half-brother, Tracy Smith (Lesley); and several nieces and nephews including Katie Clare Collins and Anna Kamille Collins.
Visitation from 2 until 4 o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with a time of reflection to begin at 4 p.m. in the chapel.
