Harry Lee Findley, Sr., 90, of Cobbtown died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home under hospice care. Born in Toombs County, he was the son of the late Milton Estus and Maude Lee Ansley Findley. He moved to Cobbtown in 1996 from Fairfax, South Carolina. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. Harry had several careers during his working years; self-employed steel fabrication and erection, automotive heat and air repair and tax preparation. He was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher of Cobbtown Baptist Church and his church in Fairfax, SC while living there.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Ruth Lee Findley; a son, Harry Lee Findley, Jr. and a granddaughter, Christy Findley.
Survivors are two sons, Allen Lester (Karen) Findley of Centerville, Utah and Wyatt Garrett Findley of Lawrenceville; two daughters, Marie Eilene F. (Richard) Milam of Jackson and Jennifer Ellen F. Carr of Yamassee, SC; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at the Elbert Findley Cemetery in Toombs County on August 2, 2014.
