Grady W. “G.W.” Durden, 92, of Metter and husband of the late Lorena Beasley Durden, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at Grace Gardens in Metter.
Born in Candler County he was the son of Grady and Vella Durden. Mr. Durden was a member of the Metter First Baptist Church and was a farmer. He was a veteran, having served in World War II, and earned two bronze stars during his time in service. He loved working on his farm equipment and helping people.
Surviving are his sister, DeLoise Froberg of Atlanta; his sister-in-laws, Jane Ellen Durden of Metter, Nadine Wilson of Savannah, and Margaret Thompson Collins and her husband, Russell, of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5 until 7 o’clock at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Elder Tommy Rountree and Rev. William Thompson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Watson, Ronny Wilson, Gerald Lewis, Madison Durden, Donny Wells, and Ricky Weatherford.
Interment will be in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
