Gregg Tucker

d. August 23, 2024

Gregory “Gregg” Dwayne Tucker, of Metter, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.

Gregg was born in Bulloch County on June 22, 1959, to Perry Dwayne Tucker and Bobbie Farlow Tucker.  He lived in Metter all of his life and graduated from Metter High School in 1977.  Gregg was a Co-Owner of Candler Timber from 1980 until 2006 having worked with his father, Dwayne.  Gregg went on to work as a service advisor at Metter Ford and retired in 2023 after seventeen years of service there.

Gregg loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all else and his favorite thing to do was to sing gospel music.  He was a founding member of “The Men of Praise” gospel group and for the past twenty-three years, he traveled all over singing high tenor and spreading God’s word.  In addition to his love of singing, Gregg loved to be around his family.  Family gatherings were among the most important things to Gregg and the larger the family gathering the better.  He was an avid Metter football fan, an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and had a love-hate relationship with the Atlanta Falcons.

For the last fifteen years, Gregg was a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church and for seven of those years was a deacon of the church.  He was a member of the Challengers Sunday School Class and was a member of the church Choir.

Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Perry Dwayne Tucker; his brother, Derek Blyth Tucker; two cousins, Danny Saturday and Randy Saturday; and an Uncle Bob Bolduc.

Surviving are his wife, Dianne Bishop Tucker; his sons, Kyle Tucker and his wife, Kerigan Mallard Tucker; Joey Scott and his wife, Libby and Ashley Scott and his wife, Robin; his mother, Bobbie Farlow Tucker; grandchildren, Emory Grace Tucker, Evelyn Rose Tucker, Russell Ames Tucker, Sydney Rash (Zachery), Justin Bell (Victoria), Jacob Scott (Charla), and Jordy Scott; nine great-grandchildren; his aunts, Martha Tucker, Betty Mongeon, and Betty Saturday; his uncle, Bob Tucker; his sisters-in-law, Deborah Bishop Lamb (Jimmy) and Delilah Bishop; several cousins, including a very special cousin, Billy Saturday; and a special friend who was like a sister to him, Betty Mack Byrd.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Cedar Street Baptist Church on Monday, August 26, 2024.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

Interment will be in Lake Cemetery.
