Grady "Duke" Padgett, of Cobbtown, passed away Friday morning, December 8, 2023, at his residence under the care of his family and hospice.
Grady was born June 19, 1944, and was a son of Grady Lee Padgett, Sr. and Louise McCullough Padgett. He was born in Toombs County and was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County. Grady was a 1962 graduate of Collins High School and a member of Cobbtown Baptist Church. He retired from ITT Grinnell where he worked as the maintenance supervisor for many years. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything with an engine. He had a love for salt water and freshwater fishing. Shellman’s Bluff and the Ohoopee River were two of his most favorite places to go. Grady also loved hunting deer, turkey and quail. In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by a son, Timothy “Chris” Padgett, and his brothers, Johnny Padgett, Jerry Padgett and Robert Padgett.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Padgett of Cobbtown; his two sons, Jeff (Carol) Padgett of Metter, Clay (Michelle) Padgett of Vidalia, and Tracy Padgett; a brother, Jesse (Laverne) Padgett; his grand-children, Brittany Padgett Fowler (Dustin), Blake Padgett (Natalie), Trace Padgett (Carson), Tyler Padgett, Tanner Padgett, Courtney Padgett Stewart (Cody) and Ash Padgett; four great grand-children, Braylin Fowler, Bowen Fowler, Bennett Fowler, and Cope Padgett; his sisters-in-law, Diann Padgett, Wanda Padgett, and Reba Padgett; and several nieces and nephews
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Cobbtown Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 at the church on Monday.
Interment will be in Sunlight Cemetery.
