Glen Erwin Bendickson, Sr.

Glen Erwin Bendickson, Sr., 91, of Orlando, Florida, died Tuesday morning, July 16, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Suttons Bay, Michigan, he was a son of John Bendickson and Martha Indegaard Bendickson.  Mr. Bendickson graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1946 and worked on the cherry farm that his parents owned there.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Orlando. Mr. Bendickson was a master mason having been a member of the Mokanna Lodge #329. He later became a Shriner in 1971 with the Bahia Shrine. Mr. Bendickson was a veteran of the United States Air Force having joined in 1949.  He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base before going to Frances Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he received his schooling for Secret Service Administration.  In 1950, Mr. Bendickson was moved to Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, Georgia where he met his wife Fronie Lou Durden and after their marriage, they were moved to London England to South Ricelap Air Force Base.  They later moved to Fort Worth, Texas having been stationed at Carswell Air Force Base until his honorable discharge in 1959.  After his discharge, Mr. Bendickson went to work for Martin Marietta Defense Contractors where he worked for ten years straight without missing a day of work.  In 1970, Mr. Bendickson began his career with Florida Gas Company and retired there as a Pipeline Controller after sixteen years of service and during that time he was in the United States Army Reserves.  In 1972 Mr. Bendickson received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in psychology from Rollins College of Orlando.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Fronie Lou Durden Bendickson of Orlando; his daughter, Susie Bendickson of Orlando; son, Glen Erwin “Benny” Bendickson, Jr. and his wife, Nin of Altoona, Florida; his grandchildren, Kayne Sartor, Luke Sartor; his great-grandchildren, Skyler Sartor, Hayden Sartor, Kaylen Sartor, Mason Sartor, and Logan Sartor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Interment will be in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
