GLADYS BARNWELL Formerly of METTER, GEORGIA
Gladys Bland Barnwell, 90, of Savannah, Georgia and formerly of Metter, Georgia, widow of Garney Barnwell, died Saturday morning, July 7, 2018, at home with her family at her side.
Born in Metter, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Bland and the late Evell Glover Bland. Mrs. Barnwell was a longtime, active member of Metter First Baptist Church before moving to Savannah six years ago. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Paulette Everett, and a brother, Maurice Bland.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Bodie, Linda Chaney (Tom), and Pat Beatty (Gary); seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, William Everett; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Barnwell (Jake), Shortie Barnwell and Nancy Barnwell, whom she thought of as a sister, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 Monday morning at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Thomas E. Keller. Interment will be at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon in Lake Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery – 26175 Lake Church Road in Metter.
