George Vaughn, of Metter and husband of Ruby Blackburn Vaughn, passed away early Saturday morning at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.
He was the son of Junior Vaughn and Estill Yawn Vaughn. George was a veteran having served in the United States National Guard for seven years. He retired from truck driving after forty years of service. George was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church near Metter. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing guitar and Madolin and he loved to sing. George also loved hunting and fishing but most of all, he loved playing with the grandkids. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by twin children, Vada and Dakota Vaughn, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Ruby Blackburn, and his two sisters, Nancy Lanier and Ruby Yawn.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Blackburn Vaughn of Metter; his son, Greg Vaughn and his wife, Andrea of McCrae and Brian Vaughn of McCrae; a daughter, Kayley Vaughn of Metter; his grandsons, Cameron, Daniel, and Dawson; granddaughters, Grace, Breanna, and Cherish; three brothers, Lewis Vaughn of Lyons, Wayne Vaughn and his wife, Reba of Douglas and James O’Neal and his wife, Gloria of Vidalia; two sisters, Elizabeth Evans of Macon and Lee Jennings of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 o’clock in the evening on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday November 12, 2024, at 11 o’clock in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
Interment will be in Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Don Driggers, Zachary Blackburn, Chandler Blackburn, Dwight Blackburn, Christy Driggers, Brandi Gresham, and Matilda Robins.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
