Gary Lynn Hayes, 64, of Bumpass, Virginia and formerly of Collins, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Gary was born in Miami, Florida, and lived most of his life in Collins. He was a son of Talmadge Hayes and Lois Pope Hayes and worked as a construction specialist at North Anna Power Station in Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having entered the service at age 17, and was a paratrooper. He loved to ride Harley Davidson with his son Gary T. Hayes and enjoyed spending time with his family. “We Rode Together, Went Down Together, You Will Always Ride With Me In My Heart, I Love You Dad”
Surviving are Tammy Hayes of Bumpass, Virginia; mother, Lois Pope Hayes of Collins; his children, Gary Talmadge Hayes (Stacie) of Mineral, Virginia, Lacy Barnett of Norfolk, Virginia, and Jeromy DeRouen of New Iberia, Louisiana; his brother, Wayne Hayes of Collins; and his grandchildren, Alex Hayes, Hunter Hayes, Bailey Jenkins, and Iyla Rose Barnett.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, in Cobbtown.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, in Cobbtown
The burial will be private.
