Franklin Ray Craft, 86, of Metter died Sunday, June 8, 2014, in Port Wentworth. Born in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Franklin and the late Ellie Gordon Craft. Ray was a graduate of Claxton High School and South Georgia College. He lived most of his life in Metter and retired from Curry Chevron Oil Company formerly Braddy Oil Company. Ray was a Deacon and member of the Cool Spring Baptist Church and a past president of the Metter Lions Club. Hunting and fishing were his hobbies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Faye Braddy Craft.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Peggy Craft of Pooler; two grandsons, Taylor Craft of Nashville, TN and Andrew Smith of Guyton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with burial in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6-8 pm, at the funeral home.
