Evelyn Daniel Harkey, 94, of Metter died Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Oxley Park Rehabilitation in Lyons. Born in Marengo County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John William and Cora Grantham Daniel. Mrs. Harkey moved to Metter in 2002 from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and was a member of Metter First Baptist Church. She retired as Senior Collection Agent with Regions Bank after 30 years. After retirement, she worked 15 years at Sam Jackson Emporium in Tuscaloosa. Mrs. Harkey and her husband were instrumental in starting a mission of the Forest Lake Baptist Church. Her hobbies are china painting, sewing, cooking and creating her own recipes. She was a member of Business and Professional Women's Club while employed.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard E. Harkey; her parents; and two sisters, John Cammie Daniel and Madelyn Real.
Survivors are a niece, Faye R. (Mitchell) Lanier of Metter; nephew, William E. (Joani) Real of Waco, Texas; several Harkey nieces and nephews; great niece and nephew, Amanda L. Hodges of Claxton and Scott Lanier of Metter and several Harkey great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Taylorville Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with Dr. Curtis Kelly officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members. Guest book: kennedyfuneralhomes.com.
