Mrs. Eveleen Kemp Lanier, 80, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta.
Eveleen attended grammar school in Pulaski and graduated from Metter High School in 1954. Eveleen was married to William Bobby Lanier for fifty-three years. While Bobby was in the Air Force and during their careers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, they lived many different places. They retired back to Metter in 1989. Eveleen loved traveling, music and playing the piano. She was a fun loving person with a great sense of humor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Metter and the Ruth Sunday School Class. The life she lived exemplified her love for the Lord and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bobby Lanier; her daughter, Debbie Lee Lanier Morris; her parents, James Lucious “Luke” and Susie Estelle Mack Kemp; a sister, Juanita Kemp Jackson and a brother, James Lynwood “Buddy” Kemp.
Eveleen is survived by her daughter, Sandy Derene Lanier Rogers, (Attis Keith); a grandson, Tyler Evan Rogers; two granddaughters, Andrea Lee Morris Bodnarik (Adam); Haley Nicole Morris and their father Andrew Gabriel Morris. She is also survived by siblings; Gertrude Kemp Prince, Vivian Kemp Strickland, June Lanell Kemp Waller, Jo Ann Kemp Carter, Ernest DeEstine Kemp, Carolyn Faye Kemp, Venda Sue Kemp Sapp, Sandra Kay Kemp Joiner and Sharon Evette Kemp Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Friday, February, 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Metter with burial in the Lake Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Thursday evening 5-7:00 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. Remembrances can be made to the First Baptist Church of Metter, P.O. Box 34, Metter, GA 30439
