Ernie Lee Ritchie

Ernie Lee Ritchie, 62 recently of Metter, GA passed away Saturday, July 4th, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and beloved dogs Barnum and Bailey.  He was the son of Ernest and Prudence Ritchie, born and raised in Michigan City, Indiana.   Ernie earned his B.S. and master’s degree in Performing Arts from Indiana University.  While at IU he was a participating member of the Singing Hoosiers.  He would later join R.S.V.P. and travel the world singing.   He was a recently retired HR Executive for Walmart.  Upon moving to Metter, he and his brother started a project converting the upper level of the barn into his spectacular retirement home he lovingly referred to as his “Barn-o-minium”.  Ernie was preceded in death by two brothers, Jarvis and Archie, and two sisters, Linda Lou Ritchie Baunach and Nancy Faye Ritchie Dorshak.

Surviving are his Sisters, Janice Rice of Michigan City; Sheila and (Dennis) Wildhart of Laporte, IN; his Brother Tom and (Jan) Ritchie of Metter, GA;  Brother-in-Law, Michael Baunach of Michigan City and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Due to the existing Covid-19 pandemic the family will hold a private celebration of life and appreciates your understanding.
