Ernest "Craig" Tyson

Ernest "Craig" Tyson, 72, of Savannah, Ga passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Ernest was born the son of Ernest and Lois Barnard Tyson Sr. on August 31, 1951, in Savannah, Ga. He spent all his life as part of the Savannah community. Ernest worked for many years as a crane operator and heavy equipment operator supervisor for the Burke County Road Department. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing. He loved his family and being part of the Silk Hope Area. Ernest was a proud Silk Hope Savage. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Lois Fortner and Betty Carol Fortner.

He is survived by his children, Summer Brown, Caryle (Kenny) Tyson, Gordon (Karen) Jones Jr., and Leslie Jones; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Doug (Bonnie) Tyson, Robin Myers, and Mike (Donna) Fortner; and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Silkhope Baptist Church in Savannah.

The family will receive friends from 11 until 11:30 at the church on Thursday.

There will be a reception to follow the service in the social following the service on Thursday.
