Erik James Johnson

February 19, 1995 — March 28, 2015

Erik James Johnson, 20, of Metter passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015. Born in Statesboro, he had lived most of his life in Metter. Erik was a 2013 honor graduate of Metter High School and attended Open Door Worship Center. After high school, he attended basic training in the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Erik had a passion for first person shooter video games with his favorite being Halo. He was a termite technician with Orkin and previously worked at BiLo. His amazing smile and warm hugs was what you saw first about him.

Survivors are his mother and step-father, Mandy and David Wischerath of Metter; his father and step-mother, Jeffrey and Melanie Johnson of Vidalia; twin sister, Lindsey J. (Ridge) Holland of Metter; two half-sisters, Chloe Wischerath of Metter and Emily Johnson of Vidalia; four step-brothers and sisters, Dustin, Holden and Danielle Plante all of Vidalia and Jessica Wischerath of Bluffton, SC; maternal grandmother, Karen (William) Marsh of Metter and maternal grandfather, George Crunkelton (Lisa) of Waycross; a niece and nephew, Blakely Holland and Dalson Plante; aunts, uncles and cousins that adore him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dan and Gayle Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2:00 pm, April 2, 2015, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Pastor Ray Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00-8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Pallbearers to carry him will be his father, Jeffrey Johnson, Ridge Holland, Evan Clark, Cullen Toole, Nicholas McBride, Chris Hiser and Caleb Collins.
