Elvira Jarriel Hatton, 93, formerly of Collins and widow of Alvin “Red” Hatton, passed away early Saturday morning, October 23 at the Oaks at Bethany in Vidalia.
Mrs. Hatton was born in Collins and was a daughter of James Perry Jarriel and Isabella Jarriel. In years past Mrs. Hatton was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and in recent years, she was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Macon. Mrs. Hatton was the Valedictorian of the graduating class of 1947 in Collins.
Surviving are her two daughters, Ruth Jonni Nelms (Rickey) of Ailey and Sandra B. Cowart of Vidalia; two sons, James R. Hatton of Warner Robbins and Robert S. Hatton of Warner Robins; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Interment will be in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
