Mrs. Ella Smith Thompson Hadden, 90, of Metter passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.
Born in Candler County, she was a daughter of Roy Smith and Ella Davis Smith. Mrs. Ella was a retired seamstress having worked for Twin City Manufacturing for twenty-eight years and she lived in Candler County most of her life. After retiring, she went to work with Candler County Hospital as a nursing aide and worked there for twelve years. Mrs. Ella was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and she enjoyed working outdoors. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ella was preceded in death by her first husband, Onnie Thompson, Sr. and two sons, Onnie Thompson, Jr. and Jerry R. Thompson.
Surviving are her husband, Talmadge Hadden of Metter; her son, Billy W. Thompson of Claxton; two daughters, Dianne Pitts of Swainsboro and Debra Thompson of Fernandina Beach, Florida; her step-children, Coleman Hadden of Eatonton, Larry Hadden of Metter, Mary Bond of Cochran, Joy Hadden of Chatsworth, and Jennifer Tanner of Metter; her sister, Betty Josey of Twin City; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter with Rev. Arthur Conley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
