Elizabeth “Tyree” Hammons Towson, 60, of Statesboro and widow of Charles Lee Towson, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Mrs. Towson was born a daughter of Cecil Hammons and Louise Wilkerson, in Savannah, Georgia. She has been part of the Statesboro community for 25 years. Mrs. Towson loved visiting the mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. She liked spending her free time fishing and listening to music. Her family was a big piece of her heart that she loved, and she enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Howard.
Surviving are her three daughters, Hannah Towson (Chad Barrs), Amanda Towson (Tim Johnson), Amy Holmes (Willie Holmes) and a bonus daughter, Miranda Woods; sisters, April Brown and Dorothy Burke; brothers, Cecil (Reva) Hammons and Michael (Molly) Hammons; a brother-in-law, Daniel Howard Sr.; a step-mother, Janet Hammons; grandchildren, Timothy and Anthony Johnson and Kaleigh Homes; two bonus grandchildren, Briana Perez and Alyssa Woods, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 3 until 5 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
The funeral will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
Interment will be in Cool Springs Cemetery.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
