Edward "Eddie Boy" Kennedy

Edward “Eddie Boy” Kennedy, 78, of Collins, passed away early Friday, December 23, 2022, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia under the care of Community Hospice after an extended illness.  Eddie was born February 7, 1944, to Barney and Lillie Green Kennedy and lived all his life in the Collins area.  He was a farmer, a retired school bus driver of thirty years, and a county commissioner for twenty years.  This was a job that he truly loved and he liked to help people whenever he could (even if it meant pushing the law a little bit!).  Eddie was a member of Collins Baptist Church and was a 1963 graduate of Collins High School.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Lillie Green Kennedy, brothers, Wilbur Kennedy and Larry Kennedy, sister Judy Kennedy Hook, and two infant brothers.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Linda McCullough Kennedy of Collins; a daughter, Melinda (Sean) Collins of Collins; and a son, John Edward Kennedy (Danielle) of Collins.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Wyatt Kennedy, Fox Collins, Kiery Collins, and Kirstie Collins; one brother, Billy (Joan) Kennedy of Cobbtown; one sister, Betty (Raymond) Brown of Collins; a brother-in-law, Glenn (Teresa) McCullough of Macon; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Larry) Beasley of Metter and Margaret McCullough of Cobbtown; and he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins he was close to.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown with Rev. David Lamm officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.

Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Brian Kennedy, Michael Lynn, Cole Waters, Mike Collins, and Louis Cowart.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown is in charge of the arrangements.
