Edward Collins, 78, of Metter died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his home. Born in Bulloch County, the son of Howell C. and Nettie Lee Collins, he has lived most of his life in Metter. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He retired in 1981 from Pyrofax Gas Company. In younger days, he was a sports outdoorsman, but today he enjoyed gardening and his tractor, woodworking, flea marketing, and just being a simple country boy. Later in life, he has loved being Poppy and Grandpa. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Robin Roulain and sister-in-law, Thelma H. Collins.
Survivors are his wife of 31 years, Joyce Cox Collins of Metter; two daughters, Karen (Earl) Motes of Portal and Kathy (Danny) Lanier of Aline; son, Chris (Jan) Roulain of Dacula; brother, Bill Collins of Metter; sister, Luree (Bobby) Hendrix of Portal; five grandchildren, Jessica Motes, Samantha (Richard) Mock, Justin "J.D." Motes, Joshua (Heather) Graham and Courtney Roulain; five great- grandchildren; J.R. Graham, Jamie Graham, Abby Lanier, Zoe Fadden and Maggie Grace Mock; two god-children, Craig and Cathy Grimes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Rev. Wayne Page officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 5:30-7:30 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Craig Grimes, Jeremy Page, Sammy Hendrix, Doug King, Donny Wells and Bob Foster. Guest book: www.kennedyfuneralhomes.com.
