Edith Rich Lyon, 88, of Metter died Friday, June 13, 2014, at her granddaughter's home in Statesboro. Living most of her life in Metter, she grew up in Swainsboro, the daughter of Elmo and Lena Mae Black Rich. For many years, she was manager of the Allied Department Store in Metter. Edith was a member of the Metter First Baptist Church and the Naomi-Esther Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lamar Lyon; a son, Mike Lyon and a brother, Bobby Rich.
Survivors are a daughter, Debbie Lyon of Savannah; a sister, Patsy Gray of Swainsboro; two brothers, Wyatt Rich and Dennis Rich both of Swainsboro; two granddaughters, Melissa Kelley and Heather Lyon both of Statesboro and a great granddaughter, Victoria Kelly.
Funeral services will be held Monday,11:00 am, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Dr. William Perry officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am before the funeral service.
