Dorothy Collins McCollough, 82, died Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Born in Cobbtown, she was the daughter of Glaston and Estelle Funderburke Collins and had lived in Metter for the past 30 years. During her husband’s Army career, they travelled extensively while raising their children. Mrs. Dot retired as an inspector from Argo Mills. Her favorite work was homemaker and Mother. She loved helping other people.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Troy McCollough and an infant son, William Glaston McCollough.
Survivors are four daughters, Julie (Joker) McDaniel of Statesboro, Betty Davis of Covington, Lisa (Paul) Paradice of Hillview and Sue (Robert) Smith of Metter; two sisters, Gertie Rocker of Hephzibah and Martha (Clarence) Ross of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Henry (Margie) Collins of Oak Park and Ken (Gloria) Collins of Notasulga, AL; four grandsons and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 3:00 pm, at Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery in Cobbtown. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm at the church before the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Deacons of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
