Dorothy Eleanor Dowd Ringley, 88, of Cobbtown and widow of Johnie Marion Ringley died late Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Cobbtown, she was the daughter of Alexander Dowd and Ruthie Lee Collins Dowd. Mrs. Ringley was a lifelong and faithful member of Hillside Church of God. She lived in Livingston, TN for several years where she worked as a factory employee later moving to Lafayette, Indiana in 1966 where she worked as an administrative assistant for Purdue University. In 1977, Mrs. Ringley and her husband, Johnie, moved back to Cobbtown. She loved to sew, crochet, and do any type of handiwork. If she had fishing on her mind, she would forget anything else.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Ringley, a granddaughter, Kimberly Lynn Harmon, a brother, Neadom Dowd and a sister, Mildred Dowd Scruggs.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Mac Sims of Cobbtown; son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Naomi Ringley of Dry Branch, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Doug Harmon of Lafayette, Indiana; a brother and sister-in-law, Glen adn Lois Dowd of Brooklet; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2 o’clock at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 until 7 o’clock at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Interment will be in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
