Donald "Don" Gene Hensley

Donald Gene "Don" Hensley, 84, of Cobbtown died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at his home. A lifelong resident of Candler County, he was the son of the late Jeff Thomas and the late Valerie Dyess Hensley. A 1949 graduate of Brewton-Parker High School, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Don was a retired tobacco farmer and co-owner of Hensley and Sons Tobacco Warehouse for 30 years with his late brother, James. He was a member of the Cobbtown United Methodist Church.

Hunting and fishing were great pleasures in his life. Don's ashes along with those of his wife, JoeAnn, who preceded him in death in 2010, will be scattered at marker 142, Sapelo Sound of Shellman Bluff, at low tide.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna H. and Garey Fox and a son, Jeff Hensley all of Cobbtown; a grandson, Phillip Hensley Jarriel and fiancAC., Hayley Brown, of Atlanta; a sister, Ann H. Daniels of Metter; three sisters-in-law, Jean Hensley of Metter, Hazel Williams of Pulaski and Ouida Livingston of Macon; caregiver and lifelong friend, Carrie Lee Cheley of Cobbtown; several nieces, nephews and great friends.
