DeeAnna Dannette Cardell Shackelford, 49, of Metter, Georgia, passed away on February 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 22, 1974, she was the daughter of Danny and Joanna McIntyre Cardell. DeeAnna was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. She graduated from Metter High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree from Southeastern Technical College. DeeAnna loved her Cedar Street Baptist Church family as well as her New Life Baptist Church family. DeeAnna was very involved at New Life and that is where she fell in love with Eternal Vision singing group. In her free time, DeeAnna enjoyed many hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She had a deep love for music and dancing, and she loved using “Alexa” as her personal assistant. You would always see her outside riding around on her golf cart and she was always wanting a Diet Coke. More than anything she enjoyed going outside and sitting in the warm sun. She was known for her giving nature and her amazing heart. She always put others before herself. She loved being a mother and she was a “bonus mom” to so many. DeeAnna was preceded in death by her son, Eric Shackelford, and aunt, Patty Lanier.
She is survived by her daughters, Presley Shackelford and Chelsea Shackelford; sons, Josh Shackelford, Ricky Shackelford, and Roy Shackelford; parents, Danny and Joanna Cardell; sister, Tamara (Jeff) Hutson; niece, Tori (BJ) Long; nephew, Ty Hutson (Abigail Cowart); a great-niece, Harper Long; and bonus children, Dalton Fields, Lily Fields, and Alex (Joni) Calva.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, February 26, 2024, at New Life Baptist Church in Metter, Ga.
The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, February 26, 2024, at New Life Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to New Life Baptist Church in Metter, Georgia.
The family would like to say a special thanks to her special caregivers Carrie, Amber, and Brie.
