Darwin Hart

Darwin Hart, 79, passed away September 21, 2022 at Life Care Center of Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Born in Reidsville, Georgia to Isaac W. (I.W.) and Myrtle (Collins) Hart, he grew up in South Georgia. During high school, Darwin was always involved in his high school sports teams, especially track & field, baseball and football.

He proposed to the love of his life, Jacqueline (Williams) Hart and was married on January 30, 1964. He was drafted into the army in 1966 during the Vietnam Conflict and served as a member of the Military Police protecting the U.S. embassy in Saigon.

After the premature birth of his daughter, Donna (Hart) Offield, he was allowed to return home from Vietnam, providentially sparing his life during the Tet Offensive. After a brief return to Vietnam, he was given an Honorable discharge and returned to help care for his wife and daughter.

Darwin was an outdoorsman from his youth and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served as superintendent at Colonial Bakeries in Atlanta, Columbus, Georgia and Owensboro, Kentucky for 33 years. He finished his career with 15 years at Menlo Worldwide Logistics in Atlanta.

Darwin and Jacqueline attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in Collins, Georgia during the years he was caring for his mother Myrtle.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents, I.W. and Myrtle Hart.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Hart of Snellville, Georgia; his daughter, Donna Offield (Martin Offield) of Tazewell, Virginia; and his son, John Darwin Hart of Evans, Georgia.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m on Monday, September 26th, 2022 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, in Cobbtown, GA.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, of Cobbtown.

Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either of the causes Darwin loved in life: Your local animal shelter or veterans organization.
