Daniel Ray (Dan) Hilton

Daniel Ray Hilton (Dan), 38, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020, in Cherokee County, Georgia.  Born in Savannah, Dan was a 1999 graduate of Metter High School.  He worked as the maintenance and grounds manager at Cambridge Apartments in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Dan will long be remembered for his generous spirit.  He would give a needy person his last dollar.  He would even ask others to lend him money to help someone less fortunate.  His big heart always had room for children and animals and he always made time for them.  There is a video of Dan holding a wild bird on his finger, helping him learn to fly. He loved to fish and he loved the Georgia Bulldogs. His friends will remember the way he never met a stranger and made everyone feel special when he came into a room.

Dan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Glenn Sewell, and his maternal step-grandfather, Tommy Moore. Left to cherish the memory of Dan’s loving and caring spirit are his mother and stepfather, Debra Rae Hawkins and Gene Hawkins, of Grand Bay, Alabama; his father, Daniel Harry Hilton of Midway, Georgia, and his stepmother, Penny Cox (Rodger) of Fleming, Georgia; his sister, Brittny Hilton, of Fleming; maternal grandmother, Esther Moore, of Metter; paternal grandfather, Harry Hilton of Midway; paternal grandmother, Diane Hilton, of Garden City, Georgia.  Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel, in Metter, Georgia.  The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 1 p.m., until the hour of the service.
