Clayton Charles Wilkes, 67, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 in Gainsville, FL. Born in Miami, Florida, he was the son of Lemmie and Earlene Beasley Wilkes. Clayton was an avid hunter and fisherman, a sports fan and loved the beach and yardwork. He loved to travel, especially to watch his granddaughter participate in events.
Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Daniese Wood Wilkes, who he met at Pizza Palace in Miami, and married November 7, 1970.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Lucille Wilkes-Mauk (Michael) and Pauline Wilkes-Smith and (Christoper); a brother, Jimmy Wilkes and granddaughter, Payton Grace Smith all of Gainsville, FL.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, July 13, 2015, at Wilkes Cemetery in Toombs County with Tim Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Christopher Smith, Michael Mauk, Jim Broestler, Todd Card, Tim Smith and Larry Musgrove. Guest book: www.kennedyfuneralhomes.com.
