Charlotte Dasher Whitfield of Twin City, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 after a brief illness. Mrs. Whitfield was born in Emanuel County 88 years ago to the late Foye and Essie Dasher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Dalton Whitfield, Jr. and was a member of the Metter Church of God.
Mrs. Whitfield was a loving wife of 59 years and a devoted mother who taught her children well by example. The greatest legacy she left her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was her unwavering Christian faith, her devotion to God and her complete dependence upon the Heavenly Father for every facet of her life. Her 88 years of journey toward God resulted in a life well lived, a life that mattered, and a life given selflessly to others.
She was well known for playing a major role with her family in the farm industry. She excelled in drive and determination to be a success and will be greatly missed by a multitude of family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Janice (David) Hinely of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bennett (Linda) Whitfield and Jerrell (Sandra) Whitfield of Twin City; three granddaughters, Kristen (Allen) Mosley and Melissa (Howard) Porter of Twin City, and Amorette (Charles) Reid of Charlotte, North Carolina; six great grandchildren, Isaac and Peyton Mosley, Railyn, Allie and Whit Porter and Preston Reid; a sister, Marjorie Radford of Metter; one niece, Brenda (Bucky) Hunter of Evans; one great niece and one great nephew, Sherry and Glenn Hunter.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11:00 am, January 16, 2015, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Pastor Alan Kea and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:30-7:30 pm at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Wayne Whitfield, Blake Whitfield, Michael Whitfield, Josh Whitfield, Walker McLendon and Wayne Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Millard Williams, Binion Turner, Rev.
