Catherine Crooms Meeks

Catherine Crooms Meeks, 89, of Metter and widow of Charlie Ray Meeks, died Saturday, March 05, 2016, at Candler County Hospital. Born in the Aline community, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Rosa Lee Crooms. She was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and the Golden Agers. Mrs. Meeks retired from the Candler County Board of Education, working in the Metter Primary School lunchroom for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and MaMa to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette and Bobby Rigdon of Metter and Linda and Dan Hamm of Gray; a son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Fran Meeks of Metter; a brother, Hubert Crooms and his wife, Louise of Metter; her grandchildren, Vickie Aldrich, Steven Cody, Steven Rigdon, Benjie Rigdon, Jennifer Smith, Nacole Davis, Allison Hood, Danielle Gordon, and Suzanne Smith; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Cedar Street Baptist Church from 5:30 until 7:30 pm on Monday, March 7, 2016.

The Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Cedar Street Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Compton officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Aline.

Pallbearers will be Steven Rigdon, Steven Cody, Benjie Rigdon, Chris Aldrich, Kevin Davis, Clay Hood, and Rusty Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Golden Agers.
