Carolyn Outen Rich, 96, of Collins and widow of Bernease “Skid” Rich, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Candler County Hospital in Metter.
Born in Tattnall County, she was the daughter of Johnny J. and Beulah Bazemore Outen. Mrs. Rich was a very active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she attended the Sunshine Sunday School Class and was a member of the WMU. She worked in the Collins High School lunchroom for ten years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Rich was a Grand Matron of the Eastern Star and she loved quilting, crocheting, and was a good seamtress. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Rich Youmans, and brothers and sisters, Mamie Saturday, Rubye Hollingsworth, Gladys Sapp, Neva Haire, Wilton Outen, Corley Outen, and Vernon Outen.
Surviving are her son, Jimmy Rich of Collins; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1 o’clock until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class, Harriet Carter, Betty Brown, Bonnie Bailey, Linda Sikes, Rhonda Collins, Janice Mosley and Joy Phillips. Interment will be in Connors Baptist Church Cemetery.
