Carl Jack Lanier, 79, of Collins died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Collins, Georgia, he was the son of Winford Wylie Lanier and Loree Cowart Lanier. Mr. Lanier was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of Auburn University where he received his bachelor’s degree and later graduated from Florida Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Lanier worked for Boeing Aerospace for many years as well as NASA as an electrical engineer in the space program. After retiring, Mr. Lanier enjoyed fishing and trading stocks. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lanier was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Lanier.
Surviving are two sons, Lt. Col. Carl Jack Lanier, II, retired, and his wife, Maria of Gig Harbor, Washington and David Michael “Mike” Lanier of Collins; and two grandchildren, Dr. Amelia L. Knarr of Omaha, Nebraska and Nicholas Lanier of Renton, Washington and several cousins.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church on Wednesday.
Interment will be in Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
