Bonnie Mae Collins Vaughn, 94 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on her birthday on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Landmark Nursing Center.
She was born on Thursday, June 17, 1920, in Candler County, Georgia, the daughter of Andrew Wilson Collins and Maggie Stroud Collins. Bonnie lived in Metter until 14 years ago when she moved to Louisiana to be near her daughter. She was employed at Candler County Hospital in Metter for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Sybil C. Coursey, Gladys C. Woods and Grace C. Raines; two brothers, Russell Collins and Grover Collins.
Surviving are daughter, Glenda Vaughn Blades and husband Huey "Red" Blades Sr. of Hammond, LA; five grandchildren, a spiritual daughter, Mary Chy Bashirian of Savannah; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 am, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with George Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Thain Cemetery at Metter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Tom Shadle, Derek Shadle, Dustin Shadle, Charles Carter, Jason Trotter and Tim Long.
