Bobbie Faye Bazemore Bowen

Bobbie Faye Bazemore Bowen, 89, of Metter passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 27, 2015, at her home. A Candler County native and lifelong resident was the daughter of Orie and Lois Coleman Bazemore. She was a 1942 Metter High School graduate and later graduated business school in Atlanta. As a child, she joined the Metter Primitive Baptist Church where she served as choir director for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Marian Agan Circle and the Fidelis Bible Study Class. Bobbie was a delegate to the Primitive Baptist Foundation for many years serving on the Hymnbook Committee for Hymns of Grace and was a deacon's wife. She was a member of the Pineland Homemakers Club and loved to embroidery for her friends.

At age 89, she continued to be an active pianist in her church and at social events in the community. She retired in 1991 as a case worker for Candler County Department of Family and Children's service. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Lynn Bowen.

Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Virgil Ray Bowen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Bowen of Jacksonville, FL and Andy and Sherrie Bowen of Metter; a sister and brother-in-law, Billie Zean and Frank Williams of Vienna, VA; a sister-in-law, Daisy Cooper of Rupert; three grandchildren, Erin Brackney, Evan Bowen and Cooper Bowen; and a great grandson, Deklan Brackney.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5:30-7:30 pm, at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Deacons of the Metter Primitive Baptist Church.
