Bevely Kay Mixson Jenkins, 59, passed on September 2, 2020. She was born to Gwynn Moseley Mixson and the late Jacob Areal Mixson of Fairfax, South Carolina on January 20, 1961.
Kay was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfax. She was a graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School. Kay was at the height of her career as one of the few female heavy-equipment operators in the construction industry when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 34. She was the founder of Parkinson’s In The Park, an affiliated chapter of the National Parkinson’s Foundation. Kay was the author of “Who is Pee Dee” a book explaining Parkinson’s Disease to a child. She married Marty Jenkins and they resided in Guyton, GA, together they raised one child, Colton Jenkins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marty and her sister, Donna Anderson of Orangeburg, SC.
Surviving are her son, Colton Jenkins; sisters, Darlene Rickenbaker of Orangeburg, SC, Linda Altamirano of Lexington, SC; brothers, Nicky (Cindi) Mixson of Sycamore, SC., Mitchell (Monique) Mixson of Charleston, SC., and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at Swallow Savannah Cemetery in Allendale, SC on Friday September 11, 2020 at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Kay’s memory.
