Betty Brinson Anderson McCorkle Tucker, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Atlanta. Known affectionately as "Pookie", Betty was born in Metter, Georgia, the daughter of Lester Cleveland and Murtie Brinson Anderson. A proud graduate of Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Betty taught school in Candler County for several years. A true Southerner; her faith, family, and friends were most important to her. She was a talented crafter and gardener who loved cooking, travel, golf, and the Georgia Bulldawgs!

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Stacy McCorkle, Sr. and John Thomas Tucker; a sister, Clementine Calhoun and an infant son, Lester Marion McCorkle.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Stacy McCorkle, Jr. and Michelle McCorkle; grandson, Tyler Anderson McCorkle (Shannon Oxford) all of Atlanta; a sister, Annie Will Watson of Metter; nieces Becky Watson Outlaw, St. Simon's Island, Christy Calhoun McNeill, Pulaski and Muriel Ivey Branch, Boynton Beach, FL; nephews Robert Calhoun, York, SC and Henry Ivey Jr., Atlanta; step-sons, John Tucker (Martha) and Donald Tucker of Gadsden, Ala. and the extended Tucker family. Thank you to Sunrise Ivey Ridge, Bridgeway Hospice, and Crowell Brothers Funeral Home for the love and care shown to Betty during her final months.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm, November 21, 2015 at Metter United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hibberts officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening, 5-7 pm, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Jim Outlaw, Tony McNeil, Hugh Burris, Mark Jones, Donald Tucker, Charles Tucker, Josh Tucker, Chris Hulen and Bill Banks. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Metter United Methodist Church Adult Sunday School Class, members of the Metter Garden Club, Brian Tootle, Robert Hulsey, Ernest Franklin, Terry Manuel, Gregg Wolfe, Kennedy Dekle, Bill Waters, Joe Neville, Gene Sutton, Jim Frank Olliff and Richard Edenfield.
