Bernice Dixon Humphrey,75 of Metter went to her heavenly home early Tuesday morning at her residence surrounded by family at her bedside after an extended illness of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH).
Born in Wadley Georgia, she was the daughter of late Hubert and Evelyn Dixon. A graduate of Bartow High School.
Mrs. Humphrey was a seamstress for many years at Twin City Manufactory and Argo Manufactory, she also worked at Brian's Oaktree Express, Candler Pharmacy and in her final years was a personal caregiver of many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, fishing, hunting and camping. Most importantly she loved being with her family and her extended church family. She attended Rock Worship Center in Stillmore.
Mrs. Humphrey, the widow of the late Louis Humphrey, celebrated 51 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her two sons Ricky and Terry Humphrey.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Rika Humphrey of Yokosuka, Japan; her significant other, Mike Bowen of Metter; Two sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Bobby)Boulineau of Wrens and Jean Walden of Louisville; brother and sister-in-law, Wiley (Olga) Dixon of Goose Creek, South Carolina; grandchildren, Hannah Humphrey of Lynchburg, Virginia, Lydia Humphrey of Yokosuka, Japan, Lindsey (Richard) Weaver of Statesboro, Daylin Humphrey of Swainsboro and Brent (Sandra) Youmans of Stillmore; great-granddaughter, Terrah Weaver of Statesboro.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 o'clock in the evening on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
The funeral will be Thursday at Rock Worship Center in Stillmore at 2 o'clock p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Lamb Bridge Road Twin City.
