Barbara Ann Cheely Priest, 66, of Metter, Georgia and formerly of Kingston, New York died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Candler County Hospital in Metter, Georgia.

Born in Ellenville, New York, she was a daughter of Henry and Margery Cheely.  Barbara was a dental lab technician for many years in Kingston, New York and in her previous years owned and operated a flooring and furniture business alongside her husband, Robert.  Barbara and her husband Robert moved to Metter several years ago after their retirement.  She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed gardening, yard work, crafts, and knitting.  In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Newton Priest and a sister, Eileen Chantel Perau.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Priest (Lindsay) of Long Beach, NY, a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie Lowery (Justin) of Metter, Ga; Step daughter, Tracy Priest (Jimmy Buff) of Kingston, NY grandchildren, Charlotte Mae Priest, Jordan “Jo Jo” Lowery, Nathaniel Buff and a grandson expected in May; her brother, Edward Cheely (Ingrid) of Stoneridge, New York; four sisters, Marilyn Alden of Rowlett, Texas, Linda Lyons of Rosendale, New York, Rosalie Boone of Westminster, Maryland, and Bonnie Fuentes of Westminster, Maryland; special family friends, Laura Fowler and Timothy Dousharm of Metter; and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.

Remembrances may be made to Candler County EMS or Metter United Methodist Church.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
