Anna Coggin Gailey, 88, passed away, Tuesday March 29, 2016 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Born in Lincolnton, Alabama, she was the youngest child of Ray and Myrtle Coggin. While living in Savannah, during the war, she met and married a handsome sailor, William F. Gailey, Sr. After the war, they moved to Commerce to complete their family. In 1959, the entire Gailey family moved to Claxton to build Claxton Poultry Company. Mrs. Gailey resided in Claxton until 2007 when her children moved her to Statesboro. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting in her retirement years. She spent her last years as a resident of Southern Manor Retirement Inn until September when she became a resident of Westwood Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Gailey, Sr.; granddaughters, Kimberly Riggs and Betsy Boatwright; her parents; sisters, Jeanette Minnix, Barbara Gardner, Louise Sutherland and her beloved brother, Bill Coggin, Sr. Survivors are her daughters and a son-in-law; Connie and Jimmy Riggs of Batesburg, SC and Pegi Boatwright of Statesboro; sons and a daughter-in-law, William F. "Bill" Gailey, Jr. of Milford, MI and Mike and Pat Gailey of Statesboro; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at the family home at 526 Pleasant Point Road in Statesboro any time on Wednesday evening, March 30, 2016. Burial will be private in the Brewton Cemetery.
