Ann Hendrix Craig, 78, of Metter and daughter of Charles and Ida Collins Hendrix, died July 12, 2016 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
Ann retired from Georgia Regional Hospital after 28 years but stayed busy volunteering and visiting friends and always taking one of her famous pound cakes or jellies that she made. She moved back to Metter and immediately got involved with the Candler County Historical Society in the renovation of the old school building. She was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ann attended the Republican Conventions as a delegate and served Metter as the Better Hometown Representative and as a Council Woman for the city. She was also involved in the yearly Mayor’s Christmas Motorcade.
Ann loved all her family and was always instrumental in organizing the family reunion and working on the genealogy of the Hendrix and Collins families.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband Dr James Craig and the father of her five children, Howard Anderson.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Daniel and Jan Anderson, Theresa and Ken Mangelsdorf, Sally and Tim Saia, Gina and Jimmy Ellrod, Sharon and Dwight Watters; her grandchildren Tiffany Rahal, Meagan Mangelsdorf, Gary Scheley, Daniel Anderson, Nicholas McDuffie, and Hannah Watters; her great grandchildren, Kennadie Mangelsdorf, Alexander, Anderson and Ashford Rahal.; and her sister, Margaret “Peg” Landrum.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 1 o’clock at Holy Family Catholic Church in Metter with Father Peter Oyenugba officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 o’clock, Friday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel.
Interment will be in Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel of Metter is in charge of the arrangements.
